When J. S. Bach wrote about love in his choral works, he wrote about theological love, but it is easily transferable to the soulful love we all experience. Renowned Bach scholar Dr. Markus Rathey, professor at the Yale School of Music and Yale Institute of Sacred Music, will explain how Bach’s music and the passion it evokes are transcendent and universal.

Hannah Collins, visiting assistant professor of cello at the University of Kansas, makes her debut with the ensemble. This is the second of this season’s free concerts and continues Bach Aria Soloists’ longtime partnership with the Kansas City Public Library.

Program Highlights: Vocal and instrumental masterworks by J.S. Bach with commentary by Dr. Markus Rathey.

Registration is required for this free concert (if you purchase a Community Concerts Package, you are automatically registered for this concert).

7:30 p.m., Sunday, December 17
Robb Residence, Kansas City, Missouri

Reservations to this concert are sold out.

In her role as principal organist at Village Presbyterian Church, Elisa has overseen the installation of Opus 22, built by Richards, Fowkes & Co. with its 3,800 pipes and 59 stops. If you have not yet heard or seen this majestic instrument, this is the perfect opportunity!
