Bach Aria Soloists participation at the 12th Annual Thailand International Composition Festival was an unqualified success!
BAS was one of three ensembles invited to perform a full concert during the festival, which ran from July 18-23. They made their Asian debut on Thursday, July 21, performing works by Bach, Monteverdi, Purcell and Piazzolla. BAS also performed DIALOGUE, which marked the Asian premiere of this five-movement suite by Narong Prangcharoen, the festival’s artistic director.
Bach Aria Soloists commissioned Narong Prangcharoen to compose DIALOGUE to commemorate the ensemble’s 15th anniversary in 2015. The world premiere was in February 2015 in Kansas City and the performance was met with rave reviews.
In addition to performing at the festival, BAS conducted BachReach educational outreach to more than 700 Thai students and teachers at Ban Bowin School in Si Racha, Thailand.
“It was a distinct honor to present a concert of works ranging from JS Bach, Monteverdi and Purcell to the Asian premiere of Narong Prangcharoen’s extraordinary DIALOGUE which earned many accolades from major composers and our international peers,” said Elizabeth Suh Lane, BAS Artistic Director-Founder. “Bach Aria Soloists’ concert at TICF ’16 was distinct among the festival with repertoire beyond the living composer. We were thrilled to be present at this important festival!”
