Gorgeous “Little Preludes” by JS himself are perfection for violin & guitar. The dramatic Presto from his epic Sonata No. 1 for Unaccompanied Violin is superb, add modern dance to the solo violin and the visual dimension breathes renewed energy into this masterpiece, then Beau introduces Flamenco guitar, like only he can!

BachReach Open at St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School, December 10, 2009

BachReach Open is the Bach Aria Soloists’ free, uniquely interactive, Open Rehearsal for the community. It introduces Bach, Baroque and contemporary music in a fun, live presentation tailored to the student audience of all ages. BachReach Open gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the road to a BAS quality performance with interactive dialogue between performers and audience. Rehearsals are always more interesting than the concert, and the exposure to the BAS is an experience that unleashes the imaginations of students who may otherwise not have a chance to hear live, high quality chamber music with engaging dialogue, inspiring their own interest in classical music.

In the past, BAS has been invited to bring BachReach to a wide ranging audiences from preschool to Middle School at St. Paul’s Episcopal School; Pembroke Hill High School; public elementary and parochial schools across the metro; KC Public Library visitors; the Shepherd Center seniors; masterclasses in the Shawnee Mission School district and at University of Missouri-Columbia; and private coaching to Paideia High jazz students.

This year, we are offering BachReach Open at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, December 10, 10-10:45 a.m. featuring Vivaldi’s popular “Winter” Concerto with Elizabeth Suh Lane, solo violin, and BAS strings. Did you know that Vivaldi penned wondrous and witty sonnets depicting the music, or does the music illustrate the poetry?

Come and learn about one of the most classic violin pieces in history!

You must register to attend BachReach Open. If you or your school would like to join us, please email
Suzie Swyden, suzie@bachariasoloists.com or call 816-820-1473. You must register by March 1.
