Bach Aria Soloists brings Tango masters – legendary bandoneónist Héctor Del Curto and pianist and Latin Grammy nominee Gustavo Casenave – back to Kansas City for their celebrated show Night of Tango, featuring the sensuous Tango music of Astor Piazzolla. Double bassist Jeff Harshbarger rounds out the excellent quintet that will bring the house down with Piazzolla’s Tango classics along with Old and New Tango.
It has been five years since Bach Aria Soloists last performed their celebrated Night of Tango, named “Best concert of 2013” and “A concert for the ages” by KCMetropolis. Night of Tango will feature the beloved quintet classics by Astor Piazzolla, Argentina’s most famous composer and virtuoso bandoneónist who revolutionized Tango and remains a towering figure more than 25 years after his death.
The evening’s ensemble will consist of:
- Elizabeth Suh Lane, violin, Bach Aria Soloists
- Beau Bledsoe, guitar, Bach Aria Soloists
- Kansas City bassist Jeff Harshbarger
- Héctor Del Curto, bandoneón
- Gustavo Casenave, piano
“Kansas City has proven that they love Jazz and Tango. We believe our community will relish in this concert of Piazzolla’s passionate music expertly combining his singular language of Tango with jazz and classical influences,” says Elizabeth Suh Lane, Artistic Director-Founder-violinist. “We are extremely fortunate to be sharing the stage with Hector and Gustavo. The virtuosity of our musicians and the searing music will sweep our listeners away to Buenos Aires for an experience that will last for much longer than one night!”
Program Highlights: Works by Astor Piazzolla and new and old Tango compositions.
