Bach Aria Soloists and Te Deum Present: Salve Mundi Salutare - O Hail Salvation of the World
This is Bach Aria Soloists' debut collaboration with Te Deum Chamber Choir. We are ecstatic about performing these sacred gems by Bach and Buxtehude for the first time with Te Deum.
Salve Mundi Salutare, is explored, longed for, and celebrated in unique ways in the three pieces on this program. Featuring Te Deum and Elisa Bickers on organ, Benjamin Britten’s Festival Te Deum makes exuberant use of the ancient hymn of praise. Bach Aria Soloists, featuring soprano Sarah Anderson, performs the sublimely moving Bach Cantata 199, Meine Herze swimmt in blut. Widely regarded as the first Lutheran oratorio, Dietrich Buxtehude’s reflection on “the most holy limbs of our suffering Jesus” was composed in 1680 for choir, soloists, and instrumental ensemble. It remembers the suffering of Christ in a series of cantatas, each addressing a different part of the crucified body. Te Deum and Bach Aria Soloists combine to bring this magnificent work to life.
